Baptism
What We Believe About Baptism
Baptism is one of two outwardly symbolic practices ordained by Christ himself to be continued by the church until he comes again. We teach that baptism is a physical act that pictures an inward spiritual truth. Baptism is symbolic of the inward identification of the believer with Christ in His death and resurrection. Immersion in water symbolizes their spiritual death and resurrection with Christ. God views an individual that has been saved as having their sins punished in the death of Christ and the Holy Spirit giving the power to live a new life that is in conformity to the Scriptures. Baptism does not save anyone but it is intended only for those who have made a believable profession of faith in Christ.
