Thinking About Gospel Promises
The Gospel gives us great reason to rejoice. It is a great blessing to see how the promises of the gospel unfold, broaden and deepen progressively from Genesis to Revelation. What exceeding great and precious promises have be left unto us who belong to Christ Jesus. I have posted this simple listing for your encouragement and in hopes that it would cause you rejoice in the grace that has been given unto us through Jesus. Many more promises could be added, these can be elaborated upon, chronologies could be constructed and items rearranged. Read and Rejoice!
God promised the raising up of a Savior from the linage of of Abraham and David
This Saviour would live a life in perfect accordance to God’s law, thus fulfilling all righteousness for them
This same Saviour would bear the sins of His people and die the death they deserved in accordance with God’s law
He would be raised from the dead by the power of God proving He had fulfilled all that was spoken of Him.
He has been given an eternal throne and an eternal dominion
Those whom He calls are:
Regenerated, called, given faith
Given the Holy Spirit
They are delivered from power of darkness and are translated into His kingdom
They have forgiveness of sins
They possess imputed righteousness
They are justified, sanctified and adopted
They are called the sons of God and have entered into His rest
They possess eternal life
They enjoy fellowship with God the Father, with God the Son (Jesus Christ) and with God the Holy Spirit
They have the Word written in their heart
They enjoy the comfort of knowing that Christ’s kingdom is “now and not yet”
They possess inward comfort and assurances despite outward troubles
They are kept by the power of God throughout their lives
They are ushered into the presence of God upon physical death
At Christ’s coming their bodies shall be resurrected
They shall fully enjoy Christ’s kingdom that is incorruptible and undefilable
They shall never die and shall possess this kingdom forever
They shall be forever in the presence of Christ where there is unspeakable joy forever.
Precious are the promises of our God through Christ Jesus!
